15 years old, playful, sassy, and less serious than her best friend and tennis partner, Wendy, but just as smart if in a more conventional way. Goes along with the science stuff more for the fun of it than any particular passion for the subject. More amorously impulsive than Wendy, she enjoys exercising her feminine powers without taking boys too seriously. She likes Rouskey’s maverick spunk and spontaneity, which keeps her amused and on her toes, but we sense the relationship probably means more to him than her, though she wouldn’t want to hurt him if she could avoid it. She is the only one of the group who has divorced parents in an era when it is not that common, and lives with her mother and sister. Cheryl takes pride in her athletic ability and is a keen competitor, not adverse to wrestling a snotty boy to the ground. Her potent physicality develops into a key characteristic of her eventual protector role within the Receiver Group configuration.
